To keep development times short, the Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.J chassis was used, and paired with the L\/70 7.5cm gun, which had enough firepower to take care of Allied contemporaries; a modified version of the Jagdpanzer IV\/70(V) Lang turret was used to accomodate the longer piece.
